Charlotte Harbor Parrot Head Club's 2024 Impact: $63K Donated, 3,000 Volunteer Hours & Exciting Changes Ahead!
It was our clubs pleasure to submit our yearly report to PHIP this month. It was a banner year for the Charlotte Harbor Parrot Head Club. In 2024 our club distributed $63,691.00 to Charlotte County charities. In addition to our monthly phlockings, each with a dedicated charity, our club held two distinct fundraising events. Celebrating 17 years of parting with a purpose, our club held its 17th birthday party over labor day weekend. Our party raised $6,840.00 in cash, and another $660 in gift cards with a total donation of $7500.00 to Valerie’s House of Charlotte County located in Punta Gorda.
On November 23rd we held our first, and definitely not our last, food drive we named “fill the flatbed” outside the Walmart Supercenter in Punta Gorda benefiting St. Vincent’s de Paul’s Food Pantry. We featured three local musicians playing for folks as they entered Walmart. We handed out lists of food requested from the food bank to the customers. We raised $40,275.00 in food donated and $505.00 in cash. Our club volunteered almost 3000 hours in our community. Volunteer pins were awarded to some members at our Christmas party.
We have had some other exciting events and changes in 2024. Due to circumstances out of our control we have moved our monthly phlockings to the Deep Creek Elks Club. They have generously opened their doors and have participated in our charitable fundraising. It’s been a win, win for everyone. We increased our social events in 2024 including Thirsty Thursdays, Fifth Wednesday Dinners, Bowling Night, Dart Night, and the Tampa Bay Rays Spring Training Game to name a few. We have a brand new website with membership and activity signups and payments. We have an exciting and energetic board. Below is a list of our current board members, and committee chairs.
