February Phlocking for Kids Needs of Englewood
Our February Phlocking Charity
Kids Needs of Englewood
Kids Needs of Englewood is a vital local charity established in 2009 by Englewood residents Tom Dignam, Marcia Louden, and Ann Dever. Today, the organization serves over 500 children each year, providing essential items such as new and gently used clothing, shoes, socks, underwear, and toiletries.
How They Help
Families are invited to “shop” for free once a month at the Kids Needs boutique. No proof of need is required. Families simply register with their address and children’s school information. Item limits are in place to ensure every family can be served fairly.
In addition to the boutique, Kids Needs of Englewood provides targeted financial aid and support services for Englewood–Charlotte area K–12 students, including:
Christmas Support – $75 Walmart gift cards for eligible students
Summer Camp Scholarships – 100 scholarships to ensure children are fed and supervised during summer break
High School Support – Assistance with graduation expenses and new formal wear for prom through a special event at Dillard’s

February Phlocking Entertainment

It’s been too long but Paul (Tall Paul) and Kristie Bobal finally return to entertain us at our February phlocking.
Paul was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Virginia Beach, where he played in "garage bands" from the age of 11. He and Kristie, who was born just outside Nashville, have been performing together for years. Many of you may have also seen Kristie perform with Girlz Rule (with Heather Vidal and Lynley Tolls). Paul has had an amazing solo career but also performed with the legendary St. Somewhere and Ramajay Intercoastal.
The duo’s live shows have become something of legend. They’ve shared stages of various sizes and are equally at home in honky tonks and bars as they are on festival stages. But for as great as their touring live shows have been, the roots of Whiskey & Wine (their 2021 original duo album) happened when the pandemic shut 2020 down and forced Tall Paul & Kristie to reinvent themselves with weekly Facebook live shows. Shows which have grown their fan base as they showcased their talents worldwide. “Tuesday at Home” has become immensely popular; maybe they will broadcast their performance from the Elk’s Lodge since they obviously won’t be home that Tuesday.
