January Phlocking Charity: C.A.R.E.
Center for Abuse & Rape Emergencies of Charlotte County
Since May 1983, C.A.R.E. has been a cornerstone of our community, helping survivors and promoting healthy, non-violent relationships through education and support.
They provide a wide range of essential, free services for those affected by domestic violence or sexual abuse, including:
24/7 Crisis Hotline: Answered by live staff to assist with safety planning and emergency referrals.
Safe Haven Shelters: Certified emergency shelter for victims and their children in a secure, non-violent setting.
Legal & Medical Advocacy: 24-hour rape crisis hospital response and free civil legal assistance provided by Florida Bar-licensed attorneys.
Counseling & Support: Free individual and group counseling, relocation assistance, and financial independence programs.
New Childcare Facility: C.A.R.E. recently purchased a facility providing free childcare (ages 1–4) for survivors while they work or attend career training.
How You Can Help: C.A.R.E. also assists victims in accessing the State of Florida Crime Victims Compensation Fund to help cover medical bills, lost wages, and mental health support.
The January Wish List
Please consider bringing a donation to the Phlocking. The following items are currently in high demand:
Gift Cards: Walmart, Publix, and Amazon (Gas cards are especially helpful).
Household Items: Laundry/cleaning supplies, toiletries, towels, blankets, pots, pans, and dish sets.
Clothing (New): Women’s and children’s underwear, socks (all sizes), soft bras, hooded jackets, and bathrobes.
