July Phlocking Charity: Shoes for Kids

Celebrating 20 Years! Summer Collection June 16-July 26, 2025

Our July phlocking charity is The Kiwanis Shoes for Kids Project whose purpose is to provide new tennis shoes to any student in the Charlotte County Public School System which needs them to begin the new school year or throughout the academic year. During the 2023 summer drive, we were able to meet our goal number of 4,000 new pairs of shoes for the start of the school year; during the year we collected over 6,800 pairs of new sneakers.

Throughout the academic year, we strive to continually meet the shoe needs of local school children. We know this goal is only realized through the hope and faith of our community. Thank you for considering this project. In the first 19 years of the project, we have collected and distributed over 100,000 new pairs of sneakers.

Thanks for all who attended our June phlocking and also as a reminder that in addition to donations for July's charity of Shoes for Kids, we still need members to bring non-perishable food items for the food pantry. We were a bit low on food donations, but we were great on dog food donations!

Gary and Sandy Milhausen had a large amount of dog food their fur baby couldn’t eat. St Vincent De Paul took all of it to donate to the pets of the homeless. They make “Goodie Bags” to give out. Thank you Gary and Sandy!

Our biggest need as of today is toddler sizes 6-13 sneakers only.

Throughout the academic year, we strive to continually meet the shoe needs of local school children. We know this goal is only realized through the hope and faith of our community.

Thank you for considering this project.

In the first 20 years of the project, we have collected and distributed over 100,000 new pairs of sneakers.

If you prefer financial donations can be provided in lieu of sneakers with checks can be made out to Charlotte Harbor PHC or by making a donation online at https://CHPHC.com/donate

JULY PHLOCKING ENTERTAINMENT

Scotty Bryan

Once again, we’ll be honoring Jim Morris, and his favorite charity, at our July phlocking. But, due to scheduling conflicts, the tribute lineup will be slightly different this year. Scotty Bryan, the “human jukebox”, will be joined by The Big Bamboo Band alum, John Patti.

If you’ve seen Scotty perform you know he covers an extensive number of Jim’s songs as well as some “Jerry Jeff Morris”. After retiring from the Navy, Scotty spent over fifteen years performing music in Southwest Florida. Influenced by Jimmy Buffett and Jim Morris, his performances are lively and fun, engaging audiences at local venues. He also dedicates time to dog rescue efforts, incorporating charity performances to support animal welfare. Scotty’s journey combines discipline from his Navy service with the upbeat styles of Buffett and Morris, aiming to create memorable and meaningful connections through music.

John Patti

NINE-time TRMA Musician of the Year, John Patti, will be joining Scotty. “JP” is in demand! He’s recently played around the country with the likes of Paul Overstreet, The Wheeland Brothers, A1A (the official Jimmy Buffett cover band), and The Landsharks. He’s also performed with members of the Coral Reefers, as well as numerous other Trop Rockers at events around the country and beyond. As a result, he’s been making fewer appearances locally, so you don’t want to miss this tribute performance to Jim Morris. JP will be adding his take on some of Jim’s songs as well as sharing some fun back stories.
