My Parrot Head experience dates back to my first ever Jimmy Buffett concert in 1996 during the “Banana Wind” tour at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. At the behest of my younger half-sister Kathy and her husband Jamie, I half-heartedly agreed to go with them to see an artist I knew about, but seldom followed or listened to outside of radio play. They bought lawn seats explaining that this is the best experience of all at a “Buffett” show. Well to say the least I was enthralled at watching and participating in the constant barrage of beach balls and other floating devices, as well as, taking in all the outrageous costumes and head dresses. To top it all off I got lei’d non-stop as they told everyone around us it was my first Buffett show. Being recently divorced that alone got me hooked!! I attended other Buffett shows the remainder of late 1990’s and early 2000’s until I met my new girlfriend and soon to be wife Katherine, aka Kiddy, in May 2003. She was a member of a Parrott Head club called Washington Area Parrott Heads (WAPHC) and invited me to a monthly social where I quickly joined sensing what a hot commodity she was to other single guys in the club :- ) I felt obligated to step in and protect her. We maintain annual membership in this club preserving precious friendships started there and continued to this day. Fast forward to our relocation to RTP North Carolina in 2004 where we sought out and joined a local chapter called Parrott Heads of North Carolina (PHofNC). Joining in July 2005 we again maintain annual membership and lasting friendships with phamily from this club. During our time with PHofNC we both held board positions along the way contributing our time and talents to make a difference while “partying with a purpose.” I served as VP-Membership and Merchandising from 2016 – 2019, and Kiddy served as VP-Communications from 2019 until our move to Florida February 2022. We started coming to Punta Gorda in 2016 returning almost yearly and finally came down September 2018 attending Charlotte Harbor Parrott Head club’s birthday bash where we joined CHPHC at this event. Even though we still lived in North Carolina at the time, we knew we would be back in Florida as our full-time home one day and wanted to keep plugged in to news and events locally until we arrived in 2022. My professional career was comprised of 44+ years in Telecommunications and IT. I was a project manager the last 24 years gaining valuable experience in organizational management, including scheduling and coordinating resources and deliverables, budget controls, contracting and procurement, and customer facing reporting and metrics, consistently bringing projects in on-time and within budget. I posses adequate hard and soft skills to give our club a strong contributing member who cares about people inside and outside our social circle with the end goal of making a difference to our local community.
