Member at Large

Waymon Terrell Young was born on August 26, 1965, in Kitchen’s Clinic, in LaFayette, a small town in northwest Georgia, U.S.A. Waymon received an Associate of Science from Dalton College on June 12, 1992. He received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology on June 10, 1995. Upon graduating, Waymon entered the field of Industrial Robotic Programming. He worked for various companies until starting his own business in 2010. In 2015, Waymon closed his business and accepted employment with Comau, Inc., where he became a supervisor of all robot programmers within the General Motors Customer Division. Waymon retired from Comau on January 18, 2019. He relocated permanently to his residence, located in Port Charlotte, FL, in February, 2019. After reading an article in The Parrot Magazine, Waymon and his neighbor decided to attend one of the Parrothead Club meetings, commonly known as a “Phlocking”. Impressed with the club’s membership, entertainment, and mission to help local charities, Waymon joined the club. At first, Waymon was disappointed when attending the Phlockings. He felt isolated and alone. He thought the club members would be more sociable and interactive. Waymon volunteered to help with the Christmas parade. As he began to meet and interact with other volunteers, the isolation and loneliness at Phlockings began to wane. Realizing that dedicating more time and effort would benefit himself and the club, Waymon decided to volunteer for one of the open positions on the Board of Directors. Waymon was appointed to the position of Member at Large. Waymon enjoys meeting and working with fellow board members and club members. He not only donates money to the club charities, but also donates time, effort, and material for club projects when needed or requested.
