Jimi D, our Social Director, comes to us from humble beginnings in New York City yet probably has less New Yorker in him than anyone you'll meet. At his first opportunity he loaded up the dog, strapped a futon to the roof of his car and headed east for the beaches of the Hamptons. Finding work as a commercial fisherman, he put himself through Long Island University and achieved a degree in Environmental planning even though if the waves were up you'd find him surfing on the beach and not in class. Through a strange chance meeting with a big time Wall Street dude, Jimi returned to the city and began his career in investment management that has lasted 38 years. His laid back style and true love of people served him well as a contrast to the sharks around him. Soon he accepted an offer to South Florida and finally was back on a beach. Not long after he developed and headed up an offshore trading office on the island of St. Maarten and worked the Caribbean for the next four years. Island hopping and ocean sailboat racing was a dream come true for the young entrepreneur. A major hurricane in '94 chased him back to the states. Fast forward to today and Jimi owns an independent investment advisory firm and splits his time between Punta Gorda and Lake Placid, Florida. He has been a member of the club since 2012 and is the longest tenured board member. Jimi also writes a very popular monthly column in the Parrot Magazine. He emcees the monthly phlockings and plans and coordinates the club's social activities. Jimi has two grown kids and a grandson who are the light of his life and thoroughly enjoys the tropical lifestyle and gives tremendous hours towards the success of the CHPHC.
